It’s allaaive! *ahem* Alive.

Movies Poster

So the blog is finally live again. I would love to hear/read some feedback. It isn’t fully complete of course but it is good enough for me at the moment.

I was extremely bored yesterday so I watched Gamer and The Lost Boys. I know what you’re saying, how can he be bored with all those darn video games to beat? I just wasn’t in a gaming mood. Anyway, I think Gamer turned me off of games for the day because it was so bad. I never expected it to be good in the first place but Derrick told me to give it a try. Derrick now owes me two hours of my life back.

I am going to post a spoiler, covered in black, which can only be revealed by selecting the text with your mouse. Here goes:

The last line of the movie was: “Well played…”

I was on the fence on how I felt about the movie until that last line. I shook my head with a slight smirk. Terrible. As for The Lost Boys, it was great to see Keifer LOOKING EXACTLY THE SAME as he does now. Well, with fangs.

I was at home sick today and I was still feeling like vampires and I saw an ep of National Geographic’s “Is it Real?” Vampires Edition and then watched The original Blade. Blade is still an awesome movie. I loved the second one too. Maybe I’ll watch that some time before MY TRIP TO JAPAN!

I’m still so excited to go and the excitement only grows stronger as the date gets closer! I still haven’t looked up any Transformers that I might want to grab. I think that it’s a good thing! Save some monies since after the trip I’m gonna be broke-ass. After I get back, I will be focusing on saving up money for a down payment on a house. Goals!

BTW, I think last week’s link of the week should be this week’s as well since I can’t stop staring back at the picture!

Rundown: Week 46, 2009

Derrick and Vicky are gone :(
But that’s ok, I had lots of fun during the last three weeks. I hope they did too. And I hope they come visit me and Tomocus (Tomoko and Marcus?) in The Land of the Rising Fun.

Here’s a quick run down of what I did during the last week:

  • • Bought Assassin’s Creed 2 ($20 off!), all three Overlord games ($9 total!), both Crysis games ($15 each!)
  • • Got early access to the Bayonetta demo on XBL
  • • Got my 2 week JR/Shinkansen pass for my Japan trip
  • • Watched Derrick and Andy play Borderlands for many hours
  • • Practiced Street Fighter IV with Sagat (and destroyed Derrick’s Ryu, heh)
  • • Andrew and Wendy’s wedding (last one of the year!)
  • • Planted seeds for Andy and Ben getting snowmobiles for X-Mas (lol)
  • • Watched Pandorum and 2012
  • • Dim Sum with the office crew and D+V, Ana, Carmen
  • • All star wings with D+V, Andy and Karmun
  • • Applied for my passport renewal
  • • Volleyball tournament
  • • P90X Core Synergetics
  • • Died after P90X Core Synergetics

I can’t remember much more since I’m dead. I also procrastinated updating this site to make it live. All I need to do is tweak it so Internet Explorer doesn’t just do whatever it wants with the CSS. Then one day you can actually read this!

Writey-Drawey (aka Lost in Translation)

Ok, Derrick and Vicky threw a Turkey dinner today (since they missed Thanksgiving and won’t be around for American Thanksgiving) and they taught us a party game they called “Writey-Drawey.” The name is ridiculous but the game is hilarious.

How to play:

  • • Sit in a circle
  • • Everyone writes a short sentence on a sheet of paper and folds it over
  • • Everyone passes the sheet to the left
  • • Everyone draws their rendition of the sentence they have in front of them
  • • Fold and pass to the left
  • • Everyone writes a sentence describing the picture
  • • Fold, pass, repeat until there is no room left on the paper
  • • The last action should always be writing, not drawing
  • • Then everyone takes turns comparing the first sentence to the last one

The results were so funny that I will be scanning them and posting them here later this week. Here is one example: The first sentence was “Fuck your couch” and after three rounds of drawing and writing later, the final sentence was “Prepubescant Dracula has risen from the grave.”

Check back soon for the scans!

I saw Men Who Stare at Goats this weekend and I think I laughed or chuckled during every scene. It wasn’t a dark comedy but it was quirky. Also if Clooney ever does something funny, it is worth watching.

Speaking of movies, the new place to watch the latest TV shows has been added to the Internets page under entertainment, NinjaVideo.net.

I used this site to watch all of Dollhouse, Castle and now I’m starting Fringe. I think the next one I’ll check out is Flash Forward. This site is super fast and you don’t have to share!

Japan is Official!

I’ll be going to Japan for the 2nd time this year, 3rd time total. I’m so excited and it is taking a lot of effort not to end every sentence with an exclamation mark..!

I will be leaving the morning of December 18th and coming back on Japan Air Lines January 8th, TWO THOUSAND AND TEN. So I’ll be spending Christmas, New Years and my birthday all in a totally different T[dot].

I’m so happy! I get to see Marcus and my new sister-in-law, Tomoko, for third time in the same year. On top of that, there’s a chance that a bunch of my friends (including Derrick!) will be there too.

Anyway, speaking of awesome things, Vicky arrived today. That’s not the awesome part yet. Derrick showed her the Batman: Arkham Asylum game for like 2 minutes. After that she was beating the crap out of all of The Joker’s henchmen and asking for more people to destroy. She went from already cool to super-cool!

I remember when I was about seven years old, my dad rented a vampire movie by the name of Fright Night. Some of the scenes in the movie stuck with my for years and I remember being quite scared.

This weekend, due to Halloween, I watched Fright Night and Fright Night Part 2. All I have to say is, wow. The 80s movie electric guitar score was in full effect. Also when watching the first one, I wasn’t sure if it was supposed to be a horror-comedy or just a comedy. It wasn’t scary at all and felt really goofy! Things must have been extremely different back then. It won three Saturn awards and one of them was for Best Horror Film while another was for Best Writing!

First things first: It’s 4am and I’m exhausted so this movie poster mash-up in no way represents my Photoshop skills!

So Zombie Land ended up being fan-friggin-tastic. Almost every scene made me laugh and there were zombies in it. What else could I ask for? Oh yea, Emma Stone was nice to look at. Too bad she’s like my brother’s age! Seal of Approval (for the movie!).

This weekend I watched Crank 2, or Crank: High Voltage. This movie isn’t for everybody. If you liked the first one, multiply everything in it by four and you have Crank: HV. This flick feels even more like a video game than the previous one. If you actually pretend you’re watching a video game, you’ll probably like it if you are part of that “everybody this movie isn’t for” group. I love Jason Statham and everything is overly extreme in this movie (which is hilarious). I’m gonna buy both Cranks on DVD some time.

I bought Ronin on DVD like two years ago or something without having watched it prior to the purchase. I finally ripped the shrink wrap and watched it with my peeps who didn’t remember the movie much so it was like a new movie to all of us. Jean Reno should only play assassins or other kinds of killing-based roles. That’s all I know him as! Anyway, watching this 10+ year old movie for the first time was fun. De Niro is always cool and you’re always rooting for him. If you like lots of car chases, this movie is for you, no question.

I also watched Apt Pupil. First of all, Ian McKellen is awesome. Secondly, what is that kid’s problem? That was the only thing I didn’t understand in the movie but later I found out that it is based on a Stephen King novel so… you know. David Schwimmer’s moustache was too funny to look at for too long. The movie got a bunch of awards and nominations that normal people (non-industry) haven’t heard of but I think most of them were because Magneto is so awesome. I wouldn’t buy this movie but if you are bored, have never seen it and it was on tv one day, I’d say check it out.

I think I should sleep now…

So I a fun weekend and during that time I had a chance to see Taken, Fargo and Eagle Eye. And I’m pretty sure my father the zombie lover is going to take us to Zombie Land tomorrow. No, that is NOT a theme park. But if it was, I’d prolly have a family pass.

Fargo was hilarious in the Burn After Reading (also by the Coen Bros.) way. I guess you can call it a “dark comedy.” I love Steve Buscemi, and Frances McDormand is great. I’ll give this my seal of approval.

I should make a seal of approval and start stamping it on shit I like. Actually, it would be funnier (and use more ink) if I made a stamp of disapproval and used it on things and people’s foreheads.

Taken was not bad in the middle but the beginning annoyed me so much that I didn’t give a crap about the person who was taken because I hated her. Then the dénouement was kinda 80s as far as logic goes (if you know what I mean) and then you remember what you hated about the beginning. If you are bored and just want to see Obi-Wan kicking some ass, go for it. He’s kinda badass in this one. I’m talking Jack Bauer levels.

And then there was Eagle Eye. Jesus H. Murphy. I liked the getting to the goals parts and I didn’t mind the actors at all. But being a tech geek kind of guy, I wanted to shoot myself in the face with a chainsaw gun (which shoots live piranhas) whenever the mysterious voice on the phone magically got stuff to happen. I’m still trying to figure out if I hated that part more than scenes in movies where hackers have to solve some 3D puzzle to gain/stop access to some place/thing just in the nick of time.
