Hello!
I’m back from Japan and sad. It is cold, there is snow on the ground, I am jet lagged… not fun.
Speaking of fun, I just wanted to make a list of things that I am doing. I need to figure out which of these things I should focus on at the moment. So here goes:
- • Playing Doom. Yes, the first one. I’m using this for mouse/kb
- • Playing Dragon Warrior (Dragon Quest in Japan). Yes, the first one! I’m being bad and using a NES emulator on my PSP. I just want to see where all the hype stems from.
- • Cleaning up. It is very messy after packing/unpacking.
- • Drinking water. Well I can multi-task this one…
- • Trying to stay awake. I failed yesterday and slept from 3:45pm to 10pm
- &bull Watching Japanese TV via KeyHoleTV 3.14
- • Watching Dollhouse on NinjaVideo.net
- • Reading Blackest Night. It is pretty badass. Read the lead up to it first if you don’t know much about Green Lantern.
- • Getting pictures of my trip ready for the site and Facebook.
- • Scanning those writey-drawey pages from when Zoo & Vix were here. Sorry for taking so long :(
- • Organizing “Pick-up Thread” pics for NeoGAF
- • Checkin’ Facebook. I started logging into FB again after a 55 month hiatus. I guess I should install that FB app on my Android phone.
- • Groceries. There is nothing to eat in this house.
- • Making MP3 CDs for my car. I’ve had the same CDs for years. 2010 it is time for some new (meaning: older) shit.
- • Filling out my GST forms. I hate form filling.
- • Payin’ bills that piled up during the trip.
- • Did I mention cleaning up? This place is a nasty mess…
Am I forgetting anything?

I’m starting to start stressing about preparing for the trip.
I still have to finish up my contract work and figure out my bullet train destinations. I haven’t done any of my Japanese lessons except for this app I got on my phone called Vanilla Kana Flashcards.
This app is pretty cool. It is helping me remember my katakana and making my hiragana (remember your lesson?) much faster. The best part is that the app is free! You can choose which sets of each kana (like just the k sounds or the k, r, m sounds, etc.) and there is a quiz where they give you 30 random sounds and you have to choose the right answer. Good stuff…
Anyway, I kinda went off topic there but… yeah. Stressin’.
Here is what clothes I think I need to bring. Let me know if it is too much, too little or if I’m forgetting anything:
- • 7 t-shirts, 3 shirts
- • 2 sweaters, 1 hoodie (One sweater, will buy one there)
- • 8x boxers/boxer-briefs, 8x pairs of socks (4 white, 4 black)
- • 1 pair of nice shoes, 1 pair runners
- • 2 pairs of jeans, 1 pair of nice pants
- • warm-ass top/bottom for PJs
- • beach shorts! just in case a vball game breaks out…
- • gloves/touque/scarf
- • winter jacket and windbreaker
- • and of course… a belt.
On top of all that, I gotta figure out which clothes I want to bring!

My brother, Shezz, wants to buy a smartphone and he’s warming up to my HTC G1 (or “Dream“). Today he was playing with my phone to get a feel of it but he entered the security pattern incorrectly too many times within too short of a time. This cause the phone to go into secure lock down.
That is awesome that the phone is so secure because there is a lot of personal information and data on the phone. Unfortunately there is a bug in the software that I installed on it where it wouldn’t recognize my username or password!
After hyperventilating for a while, my phone rang and I felt a little better. But my phone was still locked. I tried to hack into the phone’s settings database but I couldn’t access it for some reason.
Some frantic googling later, I thought I would have to resort to formatting the phone (which I want to do, but on my own terms), thus losing all of my updates since the last backup. I finally read something that turned on that light bulb that floats above my head.
I called my phone from a land line and while the call was active, I accessed my settings and disabled the pattern lock. When I did that I got a message saying there was trouble accessing my account. This new prompt asked for my username/password but it looked different than the previous one that was failing.
My G1 is back to normal! Now I should back it up and install the Sense UI… some time later.
